Reno leads; who will manage? The attorney general is looking for lieutenants
Article Abstract:
Janet Reno will stay as US Attorney General during Pres Bill Clinton's second term, but many of her team are leaving for various reasons. The vacancies most important for her to fill are the second and third in command, Deputy Attorney General Jamie S. Gorelick and Associate Attorney General John R. Schmidt. Gorelick is leaving to spend more time with her family and has no immediate plans for another position, while Schmidt will teach at Northwestern University School of Law. Reno is known as a hands-on administrator to whom not insulating herself from rank-and-file employees is very important.
