Article Abstract:
The revolution wrought by the Internet on securities trading, especially for the small investor, is discussed. The speed with which customers can access market data has increased, and the Internet is emerging as a place to look for venture capital. The SEC sees the future as a centralized electronic market and will permit Internet private placements to prosper.

The Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development"s (OECD) Convention on Combating Bribery in International Business Transactions is discussed. The convention represents a key step toward global anti-bribery standards and the United States amended the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in 1998 to conform to the convention's requirements.
