Save the whales; among the many worthy causes, let's also save the profession
Article Abstract:
Lawyers need to realize that change begins with each person and try to revive the dignity of the administration of justice and their own professionalism. They can accomplish this revival best by starting with their own conduct rather than joining a committee to study the problem. They should follow self-imposed rules such as politeness to colleagues, respect for the judge and witness, making their oral agreements as binding as written contracts and trying to resolve disputes prior to litigation.

Article Abstract:
Too many lawyers emphasize billing over service to their clients, giving credence to criticisms of the profession made by Dan Quayle and others. Attorneys in solo practice must be well-organized, professional and courteous in order to better serve their clients. Better service, not more emphasis on billing, will build successful practices.
