Stress and common sense: the first ever HSE guidance on tackling stress at work
Article Abstract:
The Health and Safety Executive's 'Stress at work: a guide for employers' is its first guidance on stress and it indicates that stress should be treated like all other health hazards in the workplace. The guidance is intended as a note of advice rather than a mandated standard, although, it may be treated as such in Civil Proceedings. The possible causes of stress are listed and common sense approaches to counter stress are suggested.

University health and safety: new approaches to management
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom universities require improved management of health and safety, and the HSE is conducting new inspections to survey their practices. Typical problems involve marginalization of safety or decentralization of practices to each department. In addition to regulations and HSE guidance, the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals has a 1995 code for schools which includes a model for management.
