Students already heed the call for service in the public interest
Article Abstract:
Several programs nationwide are attempting to facilitate the entry of law students into public interest law work. Approximately 49 programs sponsored by law schools and state bars forgive the law school loans of students who enter public interest law. The Skadden Fellowships of New York's Skadden. Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom pay the salaries of attorneys entering public interest law. The National Assn of Public Interest Law's Fellowships for Equal Justice Program repays student loans and pays a couple of years of salary for fellowship recipients.

Students: ABA accreditation is a consumer protection device
Article Abstract:
Alan M. Freeman, law student and spokesman for the ABA Law Student Division, says he and other students are in favor of the ABA role in accrediting law schools and ABA standards for these schools being tough. Freeman views accreditation as a way of protecting consumers and the ABA as the only way law students can change matters for themselves. He hopes the 1995 consent agreement between the ABA and the Justice Department will not take away the association's accreditation powers.
