The increase in law firms offering the paid paternity leave option to new fathers is discussed. Having this option in writing send a positive message to employees and proves the workplace is family-friendly.

Law firm advertising tactics dubbed attention-grabbing by some, while others call them offensive are discussed. Examples include the fake hand grenades mailed by Los Angeles' Quinn Emanuel and the plastic insects included in the mailings of Crosslin, Slaten and O'Connor.

All work and no play ... you need a vacation as much as anyone else does
Article Abstract:
Sole practitioners may need advance preparation to take a well-deserved vacation, but should not think they do not deserve one as much as other lawyers do. Sole practitioners need to anticipate any problems that could arise for their active files and well trained, experienced legal secretaries might be able to deal with many of these. Vacations should be planned far enough ahead that there are no court dates or appointments.
