Testing for the effects of concealed weapons laws: specification errors and robustness
Article Abstract:
The author reviews the data analysis methods of David B. Mustard and John H. Lott, Jr. in their study on the deterrent value to violent and property crime of laws allowing law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons. He asserts that they are correct in their conclusion that such laws do deter violent crime. However, the author believes that there may be errors in their study of the deterrence of property crimes.
