Klan, Texas embroiled in legal tug of war
Article Abstract:
The Texas Commission on Human Rights is battling the Ku Lux Klan for access to internal organization records in an investigation of the Klan for fair housing law violations. The Commission enforces the state's fair housing law and can investigate incidents of intimidation of minorities. The commission maintains it must have certain Klan information for the investigation to proceed. The Texas branch of the ACLU has entered the case on the side of the Klan in the belief that the investigation raises some constitutional rights issues.
