The legal profession and public service
Article Abstract:
Lawyers should make an effort to function in public service roles. Traditionally they have done this by providing pro bono services, helping to reform law, working in government, and teaching. These are necessary if the law profession wants to maintain a positive public image.

Taking the high road: civility, judicial independence, and the rule of law
Article Abstract:
The author discusses the need for civility during litigation between attorneys and between judges and attorneys. He asserts that uncivil behavior on the part of judges damages public confidence in the judicial system and threatens to undermine judicial independence.
