Mark D Michael, the senior vice pres, general counsel and secretary of the 3Com Corp, the data networking company that makes the PalmPilot Organizer and the world's second-largest computer networking company, heads a legal department of specialized practice groups designed to serve the five regional offices. Each attorney belongs to at least one of the specialized groups. 3Com sued Microsoft for trademark infringement in 3 European countries after the latter introduced its "Palm PC."
