Towards an open and level playing field
Article Abstract:
A number of significant developments have taken place recently in relation to the free movement of services, goods, capital and persons within the European Union's internal market. The European Commission has adopted a regulation under which it will be able to take rapid action in conflicts that impede crossborder transporters' routes and access to markets. The European Commission also plans to propose legislation in 1999 to deal with restrictions on investments by funded supplementary pension funds. The proposed European company statute would create a new legal form for business.
