Treasured tomes: loves of law and history meet on the shelves of collectors
Article Abstract:
Many lawyers find their profession leads them into book collecting, either of legal tomes or of books in general, given the love of language and the importance of reference works within the law. Books can be extraordinary clues to history and many aspects, including margin notes, binding, printing, typography, and content, contribute to their significance. Condition and scarcity also affect their intrinsic value. Rare books remain relatively affordable, though those with historic signatures are becoming sought-after.
