Trickle-down theory not hitting pro bono; roraring economy brings steady stream of public legal work, but not tidal wave expected
Article Abstract:
An American Lawyer survey claiming a decline in pro bono work from prior years when the US economy was doing less well is discussed. One explanation may be that the demands on the legal profession in a robust economy leave little time and resources for nonpaying clients. A centralized pro bono program at a firm also affects the amount of non-paying work done.
