Upholding our oath: ABA members who shrug off attacks on the judiciary endanger democracy
Article Abstract:
The American Bar Association and all lawyers must stand together to defend the integrity and independence of the US judicial system, both because it is necessary and because they have sworn to do so. Upholding and defending the Constitution includes confronting unfair critics of individual judges and the overall court system. The ABA, unlike most professional organizations, is avowedly nonpartisan, has no political action committee, makes no donations, and backs no candidates. It deserves its role in judicial selection.
