Woes from '80s face new boss at Jones Day; storm clouds loom on several fronts, including an RTC trial
Article Abstract:
Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue is a firm facing problems. The firm has been impacted by the recession, the departure of several partners dissatisfied with the firm's continued autocratic management style, and its status as a third-party defendant in suits connected to the savings and loan crisis. The continuation of management style was signaled by the departure of Richard W. Pogue as managing partner and his naming a hand-picked successor, Patrick F. McCartan.

Jones Day's big dowry handed to many suitors
Article Abstract:
Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue's political action committee (PAC) is the second-largest law firm PAC. The PAC's key decisions are made by a 15-member committee, and the firm also has three state PACS which contribute to local races. The PAC became controversial in 1991 because of allegations of contributions to an Arizona candidate for governor at the request of Charles Keating. The federal PAC has become less active since the allegation was made public.
