Youth justice in Denmark
Article Abstract:
Crime rates generally and for young offenders remained stable or declined throughout the 1990s in Denmark as the overall criminal justice policy became more politicized and tougher laws and policies were enacted. However, owing to the influence of international standards, renewed confidence in rehabilitative programs, and Danish skepticism about incarceration of young offenders, punishment for juvenile offenders did not become markedly harsher, as enforcement of prison sentences declined.
