A polar mint?
Article Abstract:
The ambitious children's animated cartoon, Noak's Island, is proof that co-productions can be successful. The 13 episodes cost 220,000 pounds sterling to produce and involved several pan-European partners. Using the same team that produced The Animals of Farthing Wood, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) handled all the contracts. All the production took place in Europe, with the original idea coming from Telemagination of the UK. There are high hopes that Noak's Island will produce a extra profit from merchandising.

Go-boys and indies
Article Abstract:
The new Carlton UK Productions operation has emerged from the purchase in 1994 of Central Television by Carlton Communications. It will unite the two concerns' programme-making work, even though they have very different reputations. The former Carlton TV was seen as very down-market, while Central had a highly respected internal production centre. The new operation is likely to attract many independent producers and programme buyers.
