Article Abstract:
Natural history makes extremely popular television programming, but is also one of the industry's most expensive genres, costing as much as 700,000 pounds sterling an hour. This is prompting broadcasters to put pressure on producers to play a more active role in raising production finance. Various methods of raising funds are now being used, including pre-selling the rights to international broadcasters and investment by co-production partners.
