BBC staff attack redundancy deal
Article Abstract:
The problems associated with the proposed job cuts in BBC's factual and learning department are discussed. The division has interviewed the executive producers to determine who is to be retained. However, an agreement between broadcasting unions and Mark Thompson, BBC's director, has stipulated that those who are likely to be thrown out should not be informed before April 1, 2006. The issue is not going down too well with the staff members who are tired of being on tenterhooks for almost a year. In the mean while, unions are trying to bring down the number of people who are likely to lose their jobs.
