BBC takes second City Central series
Article Abstract:
BBC has signed up for a second series of City Central, its new police drama shown every Saturday, 8 pm on BBC1. The second run, which is scheduled to be filmed starting September 1998, will be a continuation of the first run's 10x50 episodes that began running on BBC1 in April 1998. The second series will use the original production team and cast with Paul Nicholls, former EastEnders heart-throb, as the lead actor. BBC's head of drama series, Mal Young, will continue to oversee and executive produce City Central's second run, which is expected to be on air by spring 1999.

Channel 5 has commissioned United Film & Television Productions to create new programs, which are scheduled to be aired starting in autumn 1998. United Film & Television Productions will be tasked with producing new programs, such as the one-hour Fire Rescue program, the factual Animal ER docu-soap program, the Natural Mystery show, the Danny Boy documentary, the In the Dark game show and The Roy & HG Show, a new comedy program. The Bring Me the Head of Light Entertainment quiz series and the Serious Money personal-finance program was also commissioned by Channel 5.
