Guru-Murthy swaps News 24 for C4 News

ITN's Channel 4 News has hired Krishnan Guru-Murthy, a BBC News 24 anchor, after ITN received an extension for its contract to produce Channel 4 News. Guru Murthy, who has been with BBC during the last ten years, is scheduled to start his work at ITN by end of June 1998. Sources noted that Guru-Murthy's responsibilities will include various reporting and presenting roles and may sometimes substitute for anchorman Jon Snow. Guru-Murthy has been anchoring BBC New's 24's 12 noon to 4 pm slot since its launch in November 1997.

Public warming to pay-TV films according to survey

Front Row, the sole pay-television film service in the cable business, enjoyed a 1% increase in terms of receiving households' viewing, according to the cable-viewership survey conducted by RSMB. RSMB's cable-viewer survey also found out that movies-on-demand services are perceived to be important by more than one-third of all survey respondents. RSMB's cable-viewer survey was commissioned by the Independent Television Commission and the cable business.
