Cast masters
Article Abstract:
Casting director Andy Pryor became freelance at the beginning of 1997, after working for several years with Gail Stevens. He has worked on television programmes such as Cracker and Middlemarch, and is now a casting advisor to BBC Pebble Mill for their dramas. He feels that the sheer numbers of people he met through his early career in the theatre has helped him. Anne Fielden has been in the casting business for 25 years and has worked on such programmes as The Sweeney and Ace of Spies. She became freelance in 1976, in partnership with Joyce Gallie. She feels that casting is pure instinct.

Article Abstract:
Four writers were taken on by Yorkshire TV's John Yorke to work on the production of the police drama 'City Central' for BBC1. This approach produced a creative atmosphere and ensured that the resulting scripts were of high quality, which is not necessarily always the case with UK drama series. Scriptwriter Tony Jordan produced the initial structure for the series, but the writers then worked collaboratively. The drama has called for considerable input from special effects experts.
