Child minders
Article Abstract:
The United States' broadcasting regulator the Federal Communications Corporation (FCC) is preparing new rules for children's television programmes under which broadcasters will be required to include a minimum educational content. Various pressure groups are campaigning against the violent content of popular children's programmes such as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, leading to cable networks broadcasting children's programmes which would normally only be available on PBS. Pre-school educational programmes such as Big Bag will have no commercial breaks in response to parental demand.
