DAB: the crest of an airwave
Article Abstract:
The UK radio broadcasting industry is extremely enthusiastic about Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) technology. However, the use of DAB technology will only really begin to take off when the Radio Authority issues a detailed plan and schedule for advertising the blocks of digital frequencies. The first wave of DAB will cover seven digital frequencies, two of which have been set aside and five of which will be used for local radio services. The success of DAB will depend on whether listeners are prepared to invest in digital radio equipment, which is set to be available from spring 1998.
