Democracy or polyarchy? US-funded media developments in Afghanistan and Iraq post 9/11
Article Abstract:
The article traces the foreign support system given to indigenous media outlets in Iraq and Afghanistan post 9/11 events in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is felt that the real goal of democratic activities is not to bring about democracy deliberately but to bring about low-intensity democracy of polyarchy.

Activists as interpretive communities: rituals of consumption and interaction in an alternative media audience
Article Abstract:
The influence of alternative media on social activism by analyzing the diaries and discourses of alternative readers is analyzed. The issue is discussed from the perspective of news reading as a ritual act that produces social bonds.
