Digital television
Article Abstract:
Digital televisions (DTV) rules were issued by the FCC in Apr 1997, with a target date of 2006 set for the end of traditional analog broadcasting, following a transition period. The FCC has also set a timetable for construction of DTV facilities and minimum facility requirements. DTV transmitters can be installed at analog transmitter locations, but stations must follow FCC guidelines on transmitter location. A station's request for modification of a channel assignment will be evaluated according to established DTV engineering criteria on possible interference.

Advertising
Article Abstract:
A radio station can refuse editorial advertisements, such as advertising submitted by striking workers, but must be sure to fulfill its obligation to present community viewpoints. Ad sponsors must be identified, or a station runs the risk of FCC fines. Stations can avoid these problems by making sure all sponsors are disclosed and announced over the air and by turning away advertising from organizations that refuse to be identified.
