Doctor on call
Article Abstract:
Avid Technology Chief Executive Bill Miller is widely perceived as having been successful during his first year at the company, even though the company's value fell to $270 million in 1997 from about $550 million in 1996. Observers believe Miller has prevented even further decline, with the company's value already on the verge of decreasing when he was appointed. Miller claims he was attracted to Avid because it was already well established in the multimedia product market but had potential to become a market leader. He refocused Avid's technological strategy and is now targeting business users.

Article Abstract:

UK TV is recognising both the threats and opportunities it presents, with the BBC, ITN and Channel 4 all seeking to get on-line. There are already many home pages devoted to TV, although some broadcasters are more cautious.
