Drama pilots join ITV's regular flyers
Article Abstract:
Four new pilot television dramas will be broadcast by ITV as part of its autumn 1995 schedule, although no new drama series are included in the programming. The network drama series The Bill will be expanded with an additional hour-long weekly episode due to its poor performance in spring 1995. The ratings gap between ITV and the BBC has been narrowing, and a contingency fund has been established to counter this. Some ITV drama producers have complained about the restricted network access for new dramas because of the continued success of some existing drama series.

Channelling fire
Article Abstract:
The leading three ITV broadcasters are currently investing heavily in analogue cable and satellite channels, turning away from their earlier doubts about the prospects for cable and satellite television in the UK. In contrast, they are investing little time or money in digital terrestrial television (DTT) technology. It is possible that the ITV companies may eventually make a commitment to a strong presence on DTT, but most observers believe that this is unlikely.
