Article Abstract:
US voters now depend heavily on the news media for information about political candidates. This makes it important for journalists to try to find out what voters want from election news coverage and how voters assess the news media's coverage of presidential elections. It is clear that voters want more coverage of issues and candidates' positions, along with greater coverage of the potential impact of election outcomes on public policy and wider coverage of the whole range of candidates, not just the most prominent ones.

The impossibility of fairness: news reporting is subordinated to entertainment
Article Abstract:
Journalistic ethics has been discarded in favor of an entertainment culture with no concern for morality and fairness. The situation is attributed to the entertainment industry's takeover of the journalistic establishment which has turned news from a public service into a means to gain profit and audiences.
