Flexibility, post-Fordism and the music industries
Article Abstract:
Critical writings on flexibility in cultural industries can be misleading in their discussions of relationships between small, independent companies and large companies. Considerations of flexibility in cultural industries should recognize the limits of freedom larger companies impose on the smaller, specialized companies they so frequently turn to. Changes in industry structures do not necessarily mean changes in economic practices.
