BSC upholds Jerry Springer complaints
Article Abstract:
ITV has failed to win the favor of the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC) regarding the complaints on about five episodes of its The Jerry Springer Show. Allegedly one episode of Jerry Springer Uncut aired on April 23, 1998, and four episodes of The Jerry Springer Show aired between March 1998 and June 1998 contained so much violent and sexual content. BSC recently branded Springer and talk show hosts such as him as victim entertainment. Springer has been the subject of several similar complaints, which were filed to the Independent Television Commission.

Ratings send Flextech into black
Article Abstract:
Flextech has posted pre-tax earnings of 1.68 million pounds sterling for the six months ending June 30, 1998, up against loss of 5.1 million pounds sterling in 1997 for the same period. Turnover at the company for the first six months of 1998 also increased by 44% to 64.1 million pounds sterling, brought largely by the 129% boost in advertising revenue and 27% increase in subscription revenue. The increase in the number of audience was also reflected at Flextech's other wholly-owned channels such as Challenge TV, Trouble and Living.
