Imaginative demographics: The emergence of a radio talkback audience in Australia
Article Abstract:
The talkback audience that is prevalent in Australia, the forces that shaped its emergence, the changes in the electronic media industry and the role of its formats and policy contexts are discussed. It is argued on the basis of Dallas Smythe's work that formats are the critical link between affect, audiences and advertising.
