Record producer Magnus Fiennes introduced the idea for "Freefonix" to producer Chris Rice, and the show was pitched to Michael Carrington at CBBC. The network ordered 40 half-hour episodes of the show, and Rice created a top-notch team together with co-producer Method Films to make the series. The features of the show and production challenges are also discussed.
