Helping hand
Article Abstract:
Masterpiece Theatre Executive Producer Rebecca Eaton has a long history of co-production with UK television programme makers. Eaton has collaborated on several major projects such as Jewel in the Crown and Prime Suspect since she joined Masterpiece in 1985. Over the last 25 years, the major sponsor, petroleum supplier Mobil, has invested over 125 million pounds sterling in UK television through Masterpiece. Finance, not creativity, often drives a project in today's market, according to Eaton. She has also widened her scope by dealing with producers other than the BBC.

Splendid independence
Article Abstract:
Independent producers (indies) are not controlled or influenced by outside forces, and are usually not interested in their share price but rather in their ratings. Several indies consolidated in 2007, and the term "indie" should be redefined because it is now rare to find a true independent producer. The various contributions of true indies to the industry are discussed.

Country matters
Article Abstract:

Regional companies, particularly those from Norwich, offer excitingly fresh talent that is in great need of funding in order to grow. The views of an unnamed executive producer on regional indies are presented.
