ITV's daytime recovery plan
Article Abstract:
ITV is fighting to win back daytime television market share, after the BBC's new soap "Doctors" took over the afternoon ratings. ITV's morning line-up, including "This Morning" and "Trisha," is still leading in the morning, but BBC is introducing its new "Crimewatch" program to compete with the ITV programming. ITV's new controller of daytime, Maureen Duffy, is developing a plan to win back market share in the afternoon, including showing repeats of some long-running primetime shows and developing new programming, such as soap operas.

Article Abstract:
Lorraine Heggessy, controller for BBC 1, is said to want to update current long-running shows, and "Top of the Pops" is being considered by the BBC for reformatting.
