Indie chart toppers
Article Abstract:
An analysis of weekly Top 40 television programmes shows, for the first time, that independent producers made over 25% of television's favourite shows in 1997. Some 544 out of the 2,080 entries were produced by independents, with Pearson's Television Thames topping the list with 196 entries. Independent productions accounted for some 20% of the BBC's Top 40 quota in 1997, up from 13% in 1996.
