Jerry Ceppos
Article Abstract:
'San Jose Mercury News' executive editor and senior VP Jerry Ceppos believes in the existence of both good and not so good reporters. He says that the best reporters are those that are little insecure and have no preconceived ideas about a subject. He also believes that unfair reporting is not due to malice and cites an example of bad reporting, where reporters request for quotes when their stories were already done.

Shelby Coffey III
Article Abstract:
Former 'Los Angeles Times' editor Shelby Coffey III believes that journalists are most sensitive to stories about themselves. The stories about him that he considers most fair were those where reporters showed keen insight about the subject or situations in which he was involved. On the other hand, the stories he considers unfair were profiles about him which reflected the personalities of their writers.

James Hoge
Article Abstract:
'Foreign Affairs' editor James Hoge recounts two incidents when he was fairly and unfairly covered by the press. He says that he was fairly covered in stories while serving as editor of the 'Chicago Sun-Times.' However, he believes that he was unfairly covered as publisher of the 'Daily News,' when news stories about the heated labor negotiations and strike at the paper were not objective.
