Radio drama producers are using digital technology to upgrade their image and improve the sound quality of broadcasts. Despite funding cuts, independents such as Radio 4 continue to develop mixed-genre programming, including the integration of real life interviews with dramatic action. Representatives from various independents discuss their view of the changing radio drama industry.

Chief executive Tony Cohen has helped London-based Pearson TV develop a position in the global market through rapid expansion in the 1990s. Pearson TV has about 22 TV stations and 18 radio stations across 11 countries in Europe. Cohen believes that populist shows, as opposed to films or high end drama, are the strong point of the company's line-up, not films or high-end drama.
