Keeping the US in cable's camp
Article Abstract:
As expected, TeleCommunications Inc. (TCI) has made dramatic changes to its structure by reducing staff and cutting or freezing the wages of its executives, and is planning to re-assess its contracts with channel suppliers. Due to TCI increasing subscribers' monthly rate by 12%-13%, almost 70,000 customers left to use direct-to-home satellite companies. The gap between cable and direct-to-home subscribers is expected to increase, though digital technology will have an effect as cable expands.
