Article Abstract:
US personal computer company Microsoft has invested in several diverse areas of the media industry but is keen to play down its potential future influence. Investments have included broacaster NBC, computer graphics Softimage and internet service provider WebTV Networks. Article Abstract:
BBC Network Television is rumoured to have signed a deal with BBC Resources to keep studio-based programmes in-house. Details of a document entitled 'TSPR - Planning for Growth' have been leaked, and it seems producers will now have little choice in where their films are made and edited. It is suggested that independent producers, including ITV companies, are being pressured to use in-house facilities.
