Natural born filmmakers
Article Abstract:
The BBC Natural History Unit, which was established in 1957, is highly respected worldwide. It produced five of the BBC's all-time best selling programmes, and in 1996 produced 70 hours of television and 100 hours of radio. The cost of producing natural history programming can be very high, but the Natural History Unit has shown that it is possible to have very high editorial standards while remaining aware of commercial realities.

When big is not necessarily best
Article Abstract:
Most UK media companies believe that it is necessary to constantly expand in order to remain competitive. They do not take into account the fact that television and radio broadcasting in the UK is already highly developed, and focus on growth, regardless of the possible outcome. Expansionism at all costs is generally not in the interests of the listeners and viewers, whose opinions are often overlooked.
