RF compliance deadline extended
Article Abstract:
The deadline to comply with the new radio frequency guidelines, including broadcaster application and renewals, new stations and modifications, is Oct 15, 1997. Also announced is a Notice of Proposed Rule Making regarding wireless communications facilities and the Federal Communication Commission's preemption of state and local radio frequency regulations, which will have a significant affect on broadcasters.

Broadcast stations must keep political files on candidates' air time requests, sponsored political announcements, and free air time given. Public file documents on refused ads should also be maintained. Electronic file are permitted. The contents required in each file are also discussed.
