Salmon carcass deployment: A potential pathway for PCB contamination
Article Abstract:
Salmon carcass planting throughout the Pacific Northwest has become an important component in salmonid habitat restoration that is supported by local, state, and federal agencies. However, a serious, and so far overlooked, threat is the potential of recontamination of the environment with polychlorinated blphenyls (PCBs) or other persistent organic pollutants from salmon carcass deployment.
