Some ITV companies have hinted about expansion into the cable and satellite sectors under the UK government's cross-media ownership proposals. However, some observers believe that there would be little real change in the structure of media ownership. In fact, many ITV companies are already supplying programmes to Sky One or plan to do so, and it will take a long time before they launch on cable or satellite under their own name.

STV to take orders as Flextech's agent
Article Abstract:
Scottish TV (STV) will act as Flextech's agent for ITV company supply following the purchase by Flextech of a 20% stake in STV for 64 million pounds sterling. The deal will put STV in a strong position, as ITV companies seeking to supply original shows to some Flextech channels will have to negotiate with STV. STV will also have priority access to any new shows which Flextech challens want to commission from ITV companies.

Gloom for ITV as advertisers join ITC critics
Article Abstract:
Some of the UK's most active television advertisers have joined the Independent Television Commission (ITC) in criticising ITV's 1994 performance. Some 49% of those surveyed by Media Audits stated that comedy was a weakness, while only 14% saw an improvement in 1994. The ITC report highlighted situation comedy as a continuing problem for ITV.
