The axe man cometh
Article Abstract:
A report is presented on BBC's ongoing review process, the outcome of which will affect not only BBC's 27,000 staff but also the rest of the television industry. The findings of the reviews will be disclosed to the public on 7 December by BBC director general Mark Thompson. An overview is presented of the four reviews, including content and supply review - led by BBC manager Charles Constable; the move out of London review - led by director of sports Peter Salmon and director of nations and regions Pat Loughrey; commercial activities review- led by chief operating officer John Smith; and value for money review - led by head of value for money Paul Kirby.

Article Abstract:
BBC director general Mark Thompson has pledged to make half of the BBC's programming outside of London and base half of its staff in other regions by 2016. This addresses the issue of programs from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland not having as much air time. The socio-economic impact of broadcasting shows from other nations and regions is also discussed.
