The maker of Minders, the BBCEs highest rated Iraq film and Channel 4Es True Stories relates the trials and tribulations of a being a documentary maker. Even though television needs audiences and ratings are important, there is hardly anything surprising on television. What makes films different is the man behind the camera with an opinion and who cares about his work. Broadcasters have the responsibility to meet filmmakers at least halfway.

Article Abstract:
Daisy Asquith directed 'Whatever-A Teenage Musical' that airs in May on Channel 4, which is a story about the lives of kids in Brighton aged between 14 and 17 and the things they care about. The musical aspect was what pulled the least academic or privileged kids into this project that turned out to be the best way to know about them.
