The making of... Good Afternoon, C5s one-hour daily slot
Article Abstract:
Channel 5 Broadcasting (C5) is planning to introduce a new type of programme to its afternoon schedule. The 'Good Afternoon' format will run for one hour during the afternoon each day. The C5 programmers hope some of their 15 minutes programs may develop into ideas which could be broadcast in prime slots. 'Good Afternoon' will include a mixture of documentaries and quizzes. Each of the hourly programs cost 15,000 pounds sterling. They were able to film 12 shows each day and therefore completed filming on the studio based programmes within 22 days.

On the hunt
Article Abstract:
Companies seeking to fill jobs where salaries exceed 75,000 pounds sterling will often turn to head hunters, or executive search firms, to carry out a search of potential candidates. The UK broadcasting industry is increasingly turning to dedicated management people to provide greater value for money for their shareholders, rather than relying on the creativity of traditional broadcasting-types. Head hunters carry out a search with discretion, ensuring confidentiality for both potential candidate and employer.
