The renaissance of Jewish media: imagining and organizing a future
Article Abstract:
Many new Jewish publications and other information outlets have emerged in Central Europe during the 1990s. Democracy in the region has prompted efforts for Jewish communal revival, as well as forming the basis for new press freedoms. The clear signs of Jewish revival in the region, such as the creation of Jewish schools, have prompted debates and discussions that are being expressed in Jewish publications such as Midrasz in Poland. Internet technology is also being increasingly widely used by Jewish communities, organizations and institutions.

On the border of visibility: Western media and the Uyghur minority
Article Abstract:
The Muslim separatist movement simmering in Xinjiang, northwest China, is an increasing threat to China's unity yet news stories about the unrest in this and other Chinese border regions are relatively rare in the western media. Few westerners know that there are almost 20 million Muslims in China which include the eight million Xinjiang separatists who descend from a Turkic people called the Uyghur. No other Muslim group in China is as concentrated in one area with such strategic importance and vast mineral/petrochemical resources.
