Competition is threatening the technological tradition within the British Broadcasting Corporation Ltd. (BBC). The BBC has been at the frontline of technological developments since its early days when it was the technology rather than the content which was the most important. Technology's influence is returning but today there are other players and BBC departments are left trying to define their roles. The BBC research department believes it has an advantage from working alongside other broadcasting professionals. The training department has moved into selling its services to outside bodies.

Molinare posts 2m pounds sterling pre-tax profit figure

Molinare Group, owned by The Television Corporation, achieved pre-tax profits of 2 million pounds sterling in 1995, with turnover at 14.7 million pounds sterling. VMTV, its outside broadcast operation, saw profits of 68,000 pounds sterling, with post production operations contributing 1.048 million pounds sterling. The Television Corporation as a whole saw pre-tax losses of 2.7 million pounds sterling in the six months to Dec 31, 1995.
