19TV and Freemantle traded bitter accusations of breach of contract over ITVEs The X-Factor ripping off several aspects of the syndicated format of Pop Idol. 19TV and Freemantle jointly own the Pop Idol rights, which the latter could lose if the accusations were upheld in court. A major difference between the two search a singer shows is that each X-Factor judge would be the manager for the finalists in the under25, over25 and group categories.
